Product Description

Product Description

Port of Culture is a showcase of the images from a three year photographic project undertaken by photographer Pete Carr to capture the city of Liverpool in a different light. Award-winning photographer Carr is a specialist in HDR (High Dynamic Range) a technique that enables photographers to record a greater range of tonal detail than any camera could capture in a single photo, producing a 'painting-like' quality to the image. The end result is an incredible dynamic range of images capturing the many moods of the city, from scenes of protests at the arrival of Condoleezza Rice, to local architecture old and new. Visually stunning, Port of Culture reveals the astonishing creativity of this young photographer while providing a wholly refreshing and entrancing take on a city evolving in front of our eyes.

Absolutely Stunning 15 Dec 2008
Format:Hardcover
Peter Carr is THE most exciting photographer to emerge for some time. There is something special about each and every one of his photographs - and his use of HDR adds a magical quality. Some however, are breath-taking and you truly feel you are looking at the beginnings of an amazing career. In this book of stunning photographs, Pete shows why Liverpool is the Capital of Culture and takes you on a journey to see things as he sees them through his lens. An amazing talent, I cannot recommend this book highly enough - and if you're from Liverpool, or are buying a gift for someone from Liverpool - then you honestly cannot buy better. He makes you fall in love with the City he loves either for the first time - or all over again.

Can't wait for the next one.

Purchased as a gift for friends visiting Liverpool and they loved it! Makes a change from the standard and boring tourism books on the region.
