For Carrera GT fans only., 14 Oct 2004

This review is from: Porsche Carrera GT (Hardcover)
THE GOOD:
Superb photography!!! Large pictures! Very good information on the Nurburgring, winter and summer testing, construction and parts sourcing for the car! Also the reader will learn what Porsche was thinking during project conception, prototype testing, and the prototype presentation at Paris.
The BAD:
The hardcover jacket came with light scuff lines. Overall binding of the pages to the hardcover is of average quality. A few of the pages are bound below average quality. Lots of English grammar errors and some spelling errors. Whoever was given the task of translating the book from German to English did a lousy job. And to top it off, it is obvious this book was commissioned by Porsche on the basis that the authors not write a single word against the car and infuse the book with as much marketing jargon packaged as artistic similes. The result is enough to make one sick unless a break is taken before reading each successive chapter.
OVERALL:
A must-read for Carrera GT fanatics. Did I mention the photography by Peter Vann is excellent? Carrera GT fans will be drooling. However, for others who are looking for a good, entertaining book on the Carrera GT, I recommend waiting for a better book to be written and published and/or buying the McLaren F1 book entitled "Driving Ambition" which is worth its price. Just make sure you buy "Driving Ambition" brand new or you may not get the included poster with the chassis information on the reverse side.

This is basically a feel-good brochure for the Carrera GT. If you collect Porsche related books or are a fan of the GT it is worth buying but don't expect any real revelations about the car. Good photography some of which as already been published in "Christophorus",but the reproductions are very fuzzy. My copy was printed in China and the overall quality was pretty bad.
