I'm so glad to have finally found this on CD. I've been searching everywhere, having worn out my cassette. This album is full of beautiful, thoughtful songs about a woman's experiences in the late twentieth century. Julia Fordham is intelligent, insightful and a fine singer.

Probably Julia's best album. Excellent songs, great playing from all the musicians, well recorded and superbly produced.

after the huge success and critical acclaim of her first self titled album - "porcelian" was released in 1989 - again to huge critical acclaim which saw the album reach no.13 in the uk album charts...a tour and vhs video of the tour followed and julia was at the peak of her career!

the newly released 2 cd version features the original album with the addition of "manhattan skyline" which was was added due to julias success in the usa where the album reached no.74 in the charts - no mean feat for a british artist.

as a lifeline julia fan - i have to say this album has never lost its charm, wisdom or grace.

although the single releases never made the charts in the uk at the time (due to the market being heavy on dance and trance), the album remians as fresh as it did at the time and as with all julias work it is vocally and lyrically flawless!

the title track "porcelian" is pure and clean and fragile as the name would suggest.."lock and key" the first single release is almost perfect in everyway....and if "girlfriend" does not break your heart, with it aching lyrics nothing will!

"for you only for you" shows julia's great blues vocals...i must admit i have never been a fan of "genius" the 2nd single release - the samba feel and political message just never got me interested - although catchy i think it was a bad choice for a second single.

"manhattan skyline" is a beautiful song...it just swirls and swirls...it was released as a single in the uk but with little airplay it too disappeared...however it remians one of her strongest songs and a fan favourite.

Often considered as Julia's masterpiece, this deluxe version only serves to confirm this consideration.

Often heartbreaking, always honest and incredibly beautiful this is one CD everyone should have in their collection.

Ok, realy thrice. I'm been a fan of Julia for many years and originally had this album on cassette. I subsequently moved to the US and bought it on CD, but it was missing one track; Prince of Peace. This is one of my favourite tracks, so I bought the UK version from Amazon UK, just to get that one track.
Porcelain is, in my opinion, her best album. Every track is good with some real standouts like 'Lock and Key' and the title track, and it gets better with each listening. Classic and awesome Julia Fordham.

Well, what's new to say about Julia Fordham? Yes, UK's greatest secret; yes, the most fabulous voice; yes, it's incomprehensible that she's not an international megastar; yes, this is one of her best albums. And it's great to have a new release with a "bonus" CD, but note that you only get CD1 in the Cloud Player version.

Great sound quality and pretty packaging. This album still sounds flawless years on, especially the classics For You and Manhattan Skyline.
