I'm a guitarist. But in all my searching for a book or two that would help me through the basics of what you need to work on as a player and occasional singer, this book was the best. From my point of view, it explains everything you need to know about styles of singing, appropriateness of techniques, practice, voice and breath control - everything I wanted to know. And a CD to hear the examples and exercises. It's difficult to find books that don't either dumb it all down to X Factor, Fame Academy style or go to the other extreme - "If you not musical theatre and opera darling, you're a waster."
Check out a couple of other reviews at the USA Amazon site. Give this book a try if you're learning to sing at school or college, working up to gigging in a band (whatever style) or just want to sound better in the shower (if you have someone who hears you and complains - haha).
Can't point you to much else as I usually do with my reviews - didn't find anything else I much liked. Perhaps I'm too much a player than a singer? The Berklee singing book was one I had for a while, but I sold that and kept this book on the shelf.
