What can I say about this book other than good things? The reviewer who gave it a low rating could not have fully grasped the depth and breadth of this, its detailed but not too dry for the new keeper but has enough meat to keep even the Ultra kean turning the pages. David Scrivener knows what hes talking about and delivers it in a wonderfully easy to understand way.
This excellent book describes 35 breeds (40 on the dust cover) of poultry but does not include fancy, rare or exotic types. Each of the 35 breeds has a well written and researched text covering history, description, management and breeding requirements. There are 180 good pictures plus notes on sub and related species. There are a numder of reproductions of artists drawings. All in all an excellent and informative book for anyone interested in poultry and their breeding.
