Format: Hardcover
This excellent book describes 35 breeds (40 on the dust cover) of poultry but does not include fancy, rare or exotic types.
Each of the 35 breeds has a well written and researched text covering history, description, management and breeding requirements. There are 180 good pictures plus notes on sub and related species. There are a numder of reproductions of artists drawings.
All in all an excellent and informative book for anyone interested in poultry and their breeding.

What can I say about this book other than good things? The reviewer who gave it a low rating could not have fully grasped the depth and breadth of this, its detailed but not too dry for the new keeper but has enough meat to keep even the Ultra kean turning the pages. David Scrivener knows what hes talking about and delivers it in a wonderfully easy to understand way.

A thouroughly good read. Highly recomended. 5/5

This poultry book is worth buying just for the pictures !!!!!.
contains many reproductions of old prints and also includes top quality modern
photographs . 35 Chapters each containing well researched contents for 40 poultry
breeds detailing lots of historical information on the breeds featured .Very readable for both the amateur and experienced poultry enthusiasts wanting to
discover facts regrding their chosen breds. Modern poultry books of this quality
are hard to find or were until this came along !!!!.
Would i recommend this book -------without hesitation .
I would also check out other works by the same author all are top class poultry
books very readable presented well and hard to put down.
