Amazon.co.uk Review

From the series that has kept an audience of millions amused and intrigued comes Popstars: the Making of Hear'say, a glossy companion guide to the search for the fabulous five packed with great pictures.

The three judges who eventually chose Noel, Myleene, Kym, Suzanne and Danny had some harsh choices to make and the story makes compelling reading, just as it made compelling viewing. Concentrating on the talented people who got down to the last 33, the book covers the tensions, the insecurities, and the draining audition process which left five young hopefuls elated and many more disappointed.

Read all about the harmonies, the vocal coaching, the dance lessons and the mixed experiences of the "green mile"--that length of lino the wannabes had to cross every day to find out whether they were in or out.

There's a good degree of behind-the-scenes pictures and gossip--the delicious assertion, for instance, that a good alternative choice of career for Darius would be a cult leader! The book also contains all the trivia usually associated with a pop band: find out who sleepwalks (Noel), who has smelly feet (Kym) and who's always on the phone (Suzanne).

Throughout, readers get the impression that the chosen five feel their luck keenly and are going to embrace their chances and make all their dreams come true.

A well-presented and valuable companion volume. --Rachel Ediss

Product Description

'This programme is not just about music. It's about dreams, joy, tears and happiness. You will see it all.' Nigel Lythgoe, LWT Controller of Entertainment The search is on to find the next pop sensation. Auditions have started in all metropolitan capitals. From 25,000 hopefuls, prestigious judges from the world of Entertainment TV and the music business, will select five highly talented individuals to form the Popstars band. Those five band members will then move into the Popstars house and start secretly recording a single and album to be released during the series. LWT's cameras will capture the whole process and author Maria Malone will be there from the very beginning to record every event, exclusively for Popstars - The Making of a Band. Popstars follows the trials and tribulations of becoming a super star - from the very first auditions through the painstaking selection and refining of the chosen band, to the release of a single and album. It forms the only official story of the creation of the Popstars band and the making of what is certain to be an enormous TV phenomenon. Illustrated throughout with photographs taken exclusively behind-the-scenes during the making of the programme and drawing on personal diaries and photographs taken by the band in their house, this is the only book to reveal all about the creation of a pop extravaganza and a spectacular TV sensation.

This book is brilliant. Its one of those that once you have started reading, you cannot put it down! Its filled with lots of fab photos, of not only Hear'say but of the 33 finalists, during the 5 day workshop. It gives an in depth summary into what the 5 days of the workshop entailed, and it also features lots of interviews with the contestants. The book also includes some of the (un cut!) comments of the judges, as well as short profiles on the contestants. teh book then follows Hear'say as they face the fact that they are the chosen five, and it follows them through the recording of the album and the first single as well as their first public night out! At the end, the book features long length profiles of the band. This book is a brilliant read and although, ive read the book, i will defenitly be reading it again!Basically its a FANTASTIC read and i would recommend it to any Popstars/Hear'say fan. Ps The pics of Noel are brilliant!:-)
