Synopsis
When you mix hot teenagers, a vicious murderer, and an abandoned pool, you get movie that is nearly irresistible. THE POOL is that movie, a frightening horror story that begins when 13 hopeful teenagers graduate from high school. Elated at the thought of their new lives in college and the real world, the youngsters find a way to bust into their city's abandoned public pool and throw a huge party. But one of them has an ulterior motive--a desire for revenge that turns out to be fatal.

Having watched a bunch of low budget and relatively unknown horror films lately I can say this is one the better ones by a mile. Heavily influenced by Scream, The opening is very similar right down to the popcorn, this is a pretty good film.
A bunch of intenational students finish high school and decide to have a huge private after party at a massive pool, gym complex out of the city. However locked in they are slowly killed off....and they realise one of them must be the killer!
It's set in quite a cool unique location bebf at a pool, bar ,gym, set in Prague. It has a cool trendy, good looking cast including if too briefly Isla Fisher from Home & away fame. It has some original deaths and for once a coolish costume mask for the killer. The DVD only has text production notes and interview with the director. Overall good fun if your a slasher fan, or like the teen tongue in cheek horror you'll like this!

It's always amazing that the final girl of a slasher film has some trivial secret that haunts her, even if it has nothing to do with the parallel killing spree: this international production is no exception, with heroine Sarah afraid of the water.

A large group of German, English, American, Argentinian and Scottish seniors plan a private party for themselves to celebrate the end of their finals at a new swimming complex on the outskirts of Prague. One of them is a schizophrenic who has already knocked off some of their other buddies and now has it in for the rest of them.

Standard as the plotting is, the varying accents make for some interesting characters who meet some pretty grisly and gory demises including a machete cutting through the bottom of a water slide! It's also not as easy to play 'pick the victim' as the author would lead you to believe, but picking out the killer is a simple process of elimination.

The DVD features the theatrical trailer (although it never made it to the big screen in either the UK or the US), production notes and an interview with the director, so not a lot to rave about and the scene-marking is pretty dismal, skipping through usually takes you to the middle of any given scene. The film itself, however, is a handsome production and worth a look for horror and slasher buffs.

The Pool has the usual ingredients for a teen horror movie. It has a group of teenagers, a secluded place and a killer with a chip on his shoulder. Although in some places it wasn't scary, it was actually funny! The murderer wore a costume to shield his identity and he kinda reminded me of Skeletor from He-man!! The way he kills some of his victims are original though. For example the way the girl on the tube slide got killed has kinda put me off tube slides for the rest of my life!!
