Those au fait with the British prog rock band Caravan will be entirely at home with many of The Orb's cheekier titles. On the former band's 'For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night' album alone, you get names like 'The Dog, the Dog, He's at It Again' and 'He Who Smelt It Dealt It'. The Orb channel a similarly defiant psychedelic sensibility.

'Pomme Fritz' represents the moment Dr Paterson et al shook free of the Big Life label and shook off two thirds of their fanbase, with an EP the size of an LP, and a sound both vast and tiny. Imagine you're standing on Eris and a transmission arrives from Earth. You eagerly clean-up the signal, only to hear Rev. Jim Jones ranting to the rhythm of an alien reggae band, and you conclude... well, it's probably not from Earth at all.

This is the start of The Orb: Phase 2.

N.B. Now includes a second disc of remixes, which is ten minutes longer than the original EP.
