Brilliant - Heavy - Sinister - Sublime 31 July 2001
By Typee - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
These are words that come to mind from this CD. Torn seems somewhat tame (is that really possible?) on Polytown, tempered by the relentless rhythm section of Bozzio and Karn. Listening to Bozzio play in this muted style on headphones is mind-blowing. And Karn is in a world all his own perfectly complementing his counterparts. Saying Torn is tame is not to minimize his work here, but unlike "What Means Solid Traveller?" , the work has a deep soothing effect that propels me in rhythm in a clear purposeful way. Three great musicians in a modern masterpiece.

If you like Bruford/Levin B.L.U.E or Bozzio/Levin/Stevens, this will delight you. Don't pass it up. It transcends them both in content and depth.

an unsettling instrumental 25 Dec 2001
By ekniv snikta - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
i used to live in a haunted house. i would hear footsteps and voices when there was nobody else there. and i would listen to this album before going to sleep--not a good combination...or maybe the prefect combination.... this is disturbing music. if you have any interest in instrumental music (guitar, bass, drums) that is on the unconventional side, i guarantee you will not leave POLYTOWN unaffected.

Delirations from Torn, Bozzio and Karn 15 Feb 2001
By pablo fernandez - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Bozzio is a legend itself... Torn plays in this album a sick-dark jazz that involves strange atmospheres and some strange kind of magic released every time that times turn strange... this is the time for POLYTOWN Is non-conventional album from non-conevtional people Also you can hear Bozzio plaing piano (!) with the added efect of this non-frontier music... strange, ingenue, heavy , dark... progessive at end If like to travel arround strange worlds you must hear "Abduction Scene" and let your mind fly...if not... well you can buy a Cristina Agbuilera album... you will feel confortably numb
