Product Description

Polycraft GP-3481F Silicone is a Condensation Cure Mould Making Rubber

High strength silicone mould making rubber. Our silicone has been formulated for easy mixing by hand, with colour coded components (red or green) giving a visual aid to ensure mixing is adequate. The two components mix easily and because of the low viscosity most grades can be used without processing in a vacuum chamber. This silicone is suited for the detailed reproduction of figures, art objects and similar items.

FC-6600 / FC-6620 / FC-6630 / FC-6666 Polyurethane resins are not suitable to be used with condensation cure silicone, these resins must be used with addition cure silicone mould making rubber.

Outstanding release properties
Long working time
Medium Hardness
High tear resistance
High elasticity for easy removal of complex replica parts
Can be made thixotropic (non flowable) for vertical surface replication

Red silicone catalyst is by far the most popular catalyst to use with the GP-3481-F silicone, it gives great air release with longer working and demould times.

I've never used this stuff before but needed to make a mould of a broken ornament so I could cast a replacement part in resin. Basically very easy to use, mix up the silicone and hardener, poor it on and leave it to set. It flows like syrup so it gets into all the nooks and crannies. The one thing you might need is a small set of electronic scales (with a tare function) so you can accurately weigh out the silicone and hardener so you can get an accurate ratio.

This product works really well, you have to measure the silicone to catalyst accurately by weight, use good scales and make sure you mix really well so that the overall mix is a consistent light pink in colour. You then gently poor the mixture into a level mould, it finds it's own level so that is important. Any air bubbles which should be kept to a minimum, not only in the mixing stage but also in the mould pouring stage will escape slowly as the mixture sets. The resultant mould is strong, flexible, durable and can be used again & again. I used Plaster of Paris directly into the mould without any release agent and it worked fine, it peels away with ease and with a quick wipe it is ready to use again.

Very good quality silicone however a 1kg tub will only fill 1000cm2 so make sure you buy enough

the best of the mould making kits I bought in fairness. A cheaper alternative is to use silicon sealant in hot soapy water, its much messier and the moulds degrade quicker than this stuff does but its a good way to practice before using this quality rubber.

This creates a good mold but even when used along with "Polycraft Concrete Release Agent - 500ml" the two halves won't separate, the rubber sticks to the other half and just won't separate, needs to be cut through to separate.. not sure if it s a problem with the release agent or the rubber itself.. but something isn't working properly here.
