Review

""I consider myself a seasoned 3ds Max user, but I have always struggled with poly-modeling organic shapes inside 3ds Max. Todd Daniele explained several of the "missing links" for me. Without any hesitation I would highly recommend this book to anyone using 3ds Max that wants to immediately improve their modeling techniques."" --Jeff Patton, Freelance Digital Artist

""While I personally feel like Todd may be giving a little bit too much away, his new book is the perfect companion for both intermediate and uber-advanced modelers. Whether you're looking for a refresher on the basics or trying to take it to the next level, Todd's book is a must-read!" --"Jesse Holmes, Freelance TD & VFX Supervisor

I have more than 5 years of experience with 3DS Max with a preference for polygon modelling. Even so the modelling methods and concepts of the book clearly has deepened my skills - especially saving a lot of time in some modelling projects. As another reader wrote in a review of the book, I agree, that the book is probably not best suited for absolute beginners of 3D-modelling, as it sometimes skips steps, and assumes, that the reader has aquired basic modelling skills. All in all a great book for intermediate and advances 3D-artists.

This book shares some good techniques which will come in handy when working on my models. It is easy to read with quick tutorials for examples of techniques. This book is for intermediate/advanced users as it says in the first few pages (click on its image to "look inside"). definatly worth getting if you want to learn some good techniques which increase your workflow and skills.

This book is an absolute gem. It explains the working of Poly Modelling in an easy and memorable way.

I like the non patronizing approach when showing you how things work. The author explains to you why you do certain things whilst doing them.

The book is definitely not intended for an absolute beginner, in many places the author assumes that you are comfortable with using certain tools. So if you don't know what Cut, Chamfer and the likes are, I'd suggest to purchase a 3ds Max Bible along with this book.
