Poltergeist is one of my favorite films of the eighties, i was excited to have finally found the score to the movie on compact disc. After the first listen it was an eerie feeling, with the many strange occurances surrounding the movie after its release, the score kind of made you feel a little on edge, especially the main themes that run through the movie, such as Carol Annes theme. The whole score has a definite Spielberg feel to it, and you would almost be mistaken for thinking it was John Williams' work. The sleeve notes gave a very informative insight into the movie and its troublesome production, with Spielberg himself providing the information, making you wonder even more just how much input Tobe Hooper had in directing the film itself. I found the score moving, at times breathtaking, yet also tragic in places, but only because of the deaths of Heather O Rourke, and the other child actors involved. A very enjoyable score, thumbs up all round.
