Well, the movie is fun enough. But if one expects to see anything even remotly Polish in way of religious rites, traditions, customs or community wise, you will be completly disappointed. It's all a happy amateur's fantasy. The research is non-existing. Not even the "traditional" folklore dress of some of the actors in the movie comes close to something remotly Polish. A complete fantasy. The movie is just another cheap hogwash of German-american prejudices against Americans of Polish descent. Call it anything BUT a POLISH wedding.
Format:DVD
Polish Wedding centers around the Pzoniak's, a Polish immigrant family living in America. The mother of which, Jadzia, is an active member of the local 'Polish Women's Organization', although unbeknown to her husband her activity within the 'PWO' is just a front to cover her affair with another man. Her daughter Hala is a high school drop out, who is chosen by their local catholic church to represent the 'innocence of the Virgin Mary', though secretly she has been seeing a young neighbourhood policeman and is far from a virgin and in fact pregnant.
There are a few laughs along the way, but overall 'Polish Wedding' is pretty average stuff. It does have a certain charm to it, Claire Danes is always watchable though the plot does seem to plod along aimlessly in places.

This movie is great drama/comedy about a disfunctional polish family and their ways of living it is a very funny movie which stars the gorgeous Gabriel Byrne and the very talented Clare Danes. If you love comedy or drama movies...then this is your cup of tea. Take my advice...buy it, you won't be disappointed.
