4.0 out of 5 stars Very good value and performance! 11 Oct 2011
Size Name:Oly /Pan|Verified Purchase
I am only an occasional photographer but this flash suits my needs and has given me very good results so far in usage. However it would be nice to have a pro, semi pro or keen amateur photographer air their views and technical spiel on this flashgun if they have one in their armoury!

My Olympus E420 (four thirds system) came as a kit with a 14-42 zoom lens and the camera's built in flash was adequate. I upgraded to a 14-54 zoom lens and found that the built in flash left a shadow on the bottom of my images. The first flashgun I tried was the smaller Metz 24 AF1 which was compact and easy to use but still left a shadow on the bottom of my images, if not so bad. I would guess that the similar Polaroid PL 108AF will produce the same effect as it is basically the same unit. The added height and zoom capability of the PL126-PZ it has eradicated the problems previously faced.

The only minor drawback is that it is quite heavy with the batteries (384g) which is half as much again as my flashgun for my film SLR camera. The set up for the battery cover is a bit unusual, a tad flimsy and not clearly marked in which order to insert the batteries. These are minor niggles and I can only repeat my satisfaction with this flashgun which does the job at a very good price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Value for money 15 Aug 2011

Size Name:Pentax
Why pay more for goods than is necessary? Photo magazines push products for Pentax by Pentax. Here is an example of good a product made by a household name for Pentax which is great value. Photos taken outside with the flash are excellent. I doubt if a Pentax flashgun would improve on them. The swivel head gun works well with camera auto settings with great results also.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good value flash unit 29 Aug 2012
By Chris H
Size Name:Oly /Pan|Verified Purchase
I bought this flash unit after much consideration due to the high price of olympus flashes, I am an amateur photographer and use an Olympus EPL2 which I am still getting to grips with due to the huge scope for digital adjustments on the camera.

At first I could not alter the power of the flash and nearly sent it back however I discovered that the camera controls the flash through TTL (through the lens metering) to do so I adjusted the flash output called flash compensation (access using the live control panel screens and the lighting flash + - symbols) which is like exposure compensation but dedicated for flash output. This increased the output so I could shoot my subject in a low light level room and get good results and a decent exposure on the shot, it is not perfect but the flash using its four batteries is more powerful than most. The built in flash on my EPL2 gave odd shadows due to the close proximity of the flash to the zoom lens {14-150} and was not acceptable.

There are limitations of course if say you wanted to shoot in a banquet hall with dim lighting you would just end up annoying allot of people, but in a normal size room it works for me.
I also use rechargeable batteries which saves a fortune and two sets lets you charge one while the other is being used. The swivel and tilt on this flash works really well so on the whole I think it is a good flash unit for a lot less money than the olympus flash guns and will get you going until you win the lottery or cash in the endowment.

I bought this to support my Pentax as the built-in flash was not powerful enough. I had already looked at one in the local camera shop but was not prepared to pay their price. So I came home and logged straight on to Amazon! Their it was at 2 thirds the price. Received it only 3 days affter ordering and have never looked back. This range of flashes will do everything and anything an enthusiast will want. Locks straight into the hot shoe and the camera does the rest. The flash head can be angled in any direction but down and the zoom facility really does work as does the built-in filter. It makes flash photography a total and confident pleasure at a very reasonable price. I believe there is a model for most of the top camera brands and I would strongly recommend them to all; excepting of course the professional who would have to pay considerably more to better Polaroid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value 24 May 2012
Size Name:Pentax|Verified Purchase
I am not a fan of flash photography but am taking the wedding pictures for a friend shortly and might need to use flash indoors. I wanted something simple to use and not overly expensive. This flashgun seems to work on both counts. Not the most robust looking device but apart from the difficult to open battery cover it is quite acceptable. Recharge time is quick and the results are fine. If you are looking for a decent flashgun at a reasonable price this one fits the bill well
