If you're looking at this product, chances are you're already well aware that a blower is one of those essential items of photographic kit that nobody should be without.
So why did I choose this Polaroid-branded model instead of one of its better known competitors...?
Well, of course, the price was (comparatively) reasonable. But I also liked the fact that the bulb is made of a high silicon content rubber - suggesting that it SHOULD be more resistant to cracking and splitting, over time. Another boon was the nozzle tip, which is also made of a pliant silicon compound - meaning, hopefully, that unwary users are much less likely to leave a damaging blemish should they accidently make contact with their precious lenses or the delicate innards of their cameras. The base/valve area is also usefully flattened, so that the blower can be set to stand upright on a desk or workbench without it falling over.
Used in anger, this blower seems to generate a very respectable 'puff' for its size - certainly enough to dislodge the larger debris from your lenses, camera mirrors, sensors, or eyepieces - and from an ergonomics point of view, it feels secure enough and comfortable to hold.
And the final score...? Four (and a half) stars!
(PS: the Polaroid Original Lens Pen - Lens Cleaner
is also a very good buy; and no, I'm not on the Polaroid payroll!)
