The Polar FT40F ladies heart rate monitor has a new design in white, which looks very stylish. It helps to improve your overall fitness by determining the right training intensity for each workout session. The EnergyPointer feature is easy to use and shows visually when your training is more effective for fitness improving or fat burning by indicating the centre point between these two training effects ( if you are below that point, then fat burning is being improved, and when you are above that point, you are improving your aerobic fitness). The Polar FT40F measures the average and maximum heart rate, which can be displayed as a graphical trend in Polar software or during strength training. The Polar OwnCal enables you to monitor your calorie expenditure and if you want to measure the aerobic fitness at rest, the heart rate monitor allows for taking a fitness test, which takes no more than 5 minutes. In order to define the right training intensity the Polar FT40F can also define your target zones for a workout session so that the training computer can alarm you when you are out of the pre-set zones. The Polar OwnCode (5kHz) coded transmission automatically locks in a code to transmit your heart rate to the training computer. Thanks to it the heart rate is picked up by the training computer only from your transmitter and you do not have to worry about disturbances from other training computers.

This is a smart looking watch, I love the shadowed flowers as this feminises the item a little. I am able to monitor each training session, can look at my weekly data and compare, always know what my heart rate is doing and how hard I am trying. It's also a bonus having a coded item as you don't pick up signals from other people or machines. Although not one of the cheapest HRM's on the market, I'd rather spend a little extra and have this one - it's by far the best I've had over the years. For anyone who is serious about their training sessions and monitoring their efforts, I'd recommend.

I pretty much summed it up in the title: I never had a heart rate monitor before, but this Polar Ft40F must be the cream of heart rate monitors. Comfortable to wear (both the watch and the link), the display is easy to read (even during the exercise) and the information displayed is very rich. ...and it's a pretty watch so I never have to take it off.
