This ice maker is very easy to use, there are three sizes of bell shaped ice; (but there is only a little difference in them though.) It makes the same 'noise' as a fridge/freezer would, except you do hear when the ice is made as it empties into the ice bucket, this is preferable to an 'alarm' like some ice makers have.
I only wish the ice could be kept frozen once it is made, it does melt back into the machine through the slats in the ice bucket so no need to empty... you just have to start over.

This is more of a demonstration of the Polar Ice Machine in action. It's a great machine, fast and efficient. It was quite a bit bigger and heavier than I was anticipating so consideration is needed when deciding where to locate it. Three sizes of ice cube can be made. I tend to start it off on the smallest cube size as this cycle give ice in the shortest time. After a couple of cycles on small (around 6 to 10 mins approx per cycle after the short start-up routine) I switch it the large size. The instructions recommend you discard the first cycle but I've found it is perfectly acceptable and I use it in drinks etc as normal. If you are not desperate for ice immediately then you can discard the first batch of cubes. As the machine initially works to reduce the temperature of the water tank you can discard the first batch into the water tank to assist with chilling if you prefer. The machine has two indicating lights. One for water out and the other for ice basket full.

If you are wondering how it makes the ice this is achieved by filling a small water bath/tray with water from the main tank, ten metal rods hang down into the water tray and its these that ice cubes form around. Finally the water tray empties and the ice cubes are suspended around the rods. The rods heat up and the ice cubes drop in the the collection area where a paddle pushes them into the main ice basket (suspended over the water tank). Drips from the ice cubes drop in to main tank to be used again. The 'cubes' are dome shaped like a thimble and contain a vertical hollow where the metal rod was located. Ten cubes are made per batch. Ice can be stored in the basket for quite a long time, it melts slowly but with the lid down you can easily keep it for 4+ hours as the lid and machine are insulated.

Very nice product. Works as advertised. A fair amount of ICE within just a few min. I will say however the vendor took longer than posted to deliver the product. This may be a one off situation. Bottom line great price for a really nice product.

My wife suddenly got a massive craving for ice, which turned out to be a text-book scenario for a low red cell count (Anemia). Not having a fridge/Freezer with built in ice maker, I looked on Amazon for a suitable unit and after reading the reviews, bought this one.

It does everything it supposed to do and left on and topped up will definately supply a constant supply of conical ice cubes (rather a contradiction in terms but couldn't think of another word for cube that was round!) It is so efficient that a small to medium pub or wine bar would be well supplied.

One thing that is not mentioned anywhere in the blub for the machine, is that you can make flavoured ice lumps and the best thing to do is buy squashes. Make up the solution to taste in a jug and pour in the resevoir. After making the flavoured ice, fill up with clean water and make more ice lumps until they are regular water ice again.

After use and certainly if you won't be using it for a while, get as much of the water out via the drain tube and leave the lid open until everything is completely dry.

In Summary: Good price for such an efficient, professional machine. Some noise in operation and also very heavy.

I have bought 2 other ice machines before this one. This is good because it has no alarm beep. The previous machine was working but the beep went wrong and the machine beeped every 5 minutes for no reason. This machine makes good ice quickly and looks good in the kitchen

This arrived within 48hours from placing the order.

This is the second ice machine we have bought. The first lasted 9 years, so it didnt owe us anything.
This one however, is quicker, quieter and cheaper, so we are happy with our purchase.

I have had this machine for 8 months now. I think it is excellent. I disagree with the comments that it is slow and noisy. Yes when the cubes are being released into the collection basket it can be quite startling at first( cabinet falling off wall?) You soon get used to this. It takes about 12 mins to make first batch of 12 large ice cubes. The cubes stay good for about 3 hours if not used and then they will slowly melt but of course as they do so the machine will make new ones to fill up the basket again. I would recommend giving it a thorough clean once a week even if you use it every day like I do. I loaned it last week to a friend who was having a party. What a job getting it back!
