As widely reported on the web - doesn't work!, 2 Jan 2010
This review is from: Polar IR Interface USB Set (Sports)
I had one of the old Polar IR interfaces, which worked fine on my computer, but didn't on my new one, try as I might to get it to work. Knowing that there has always been a problem wth the Polar interfaces, either because they won't work, or that non Polar interfaces are not compatible with all Polar heart rate monitors, I though I would take the risk and buy one - there's no point in having an Hr monitor if you can't evaluate the downloaded data.
So, the new device arrives from Amazon. It looks great, installs fine, and the red IR light blinks to let you know that it's "working".
Only trouble is - it doesn't.
So, to summarise, I have a nice knew Polar IR interface that looks like it's working, but can't connect with my watch, and believe you me I have spent hours trying. This seems to be a universal problem with Polar IR interfaces - sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Polar seems to ignore this issue at best, which is very dissappointing.
So, be warned - if you buy this product, it may not work, but you won't know until you have tried it. Happy days.

Really, Really Poor, 5 Sep 2010
This review is from: Polar IR Interface USB Set (Sports)
It's just a bog-standard IrDA interface - you can get an unbranded one for a tenth of the price. Being IrDA it doesn't even work very well. Paired with a Polar RS400 & Polar ProTrainer software it times out & disconnects constantly. Not very Win 7 / 64-bit compliant either - blue screens not an unfamiliar sight.

It works..., 19 Mar 2011
This review is from: Polar IR Interface USB Set (Sports)
This is a simple IR device and it works as designed with some exeptions when there is trouble communicating through USB.
Then I just unplug and reconnect to get it working.
The sad part is the price - it is overpriced even though Amazone had the best price overall.
The cheaper IR ports usually don't work with polar and this is just crazy given the fact that IR is a standardized stoneage technology that should just work from a technical point of view. But then there are economics involved that tends to lead to this type of limitations.. Very annoying..
