Not being particularly a Lady Gaga fan nor a fan of synthesised Amercian pop, why rate this CD single so highly ? Answer - whether it is simply an inspired piece of electro-funk pop or a carefully crafted product from the marketing department, or of course a bit of both, this song blends together many elements which go to make a pop song memorable. It has a distinctive sound for its genre, it has a quirkiness, catchy hooks, simple sing-a-long lyrics that could be about almost anything you choose, and a driving beat. But it rates very high on the ear-worm scale - that indescribable ability of certain music of any description, or even quality, to stay in your head. Having heard some of Lady Gaga's other tracks from her latest album, none goes close to capturing the same germ, but rather fall into the all-too familiar formula of disposable pop. Hence, for non-Lady Gaga fans, buying the CD single is a worthwhile exercise, and you can download it onto your iPod but keep a 'master CD copy' for later use when your laptop/iPod dies, crashes or is lost/stolen - another reason that we should keep buying CD singles and not let them die out completely. Examples such as this track demonstrate their purpose remains.
