I must admit, two things: 1) I am a huge Pokemon fan, always have been and always will be, and the Pokemon Adventures series is one I have been following on and off since reading volume 1 way back in 2000 with Viz Media's first edition. I'm not thrilled with Viz for stopping the releases all those years ago, and it still bugs me that the games from 2003 and 2006 are still receiving their manga-counterpart releases in 2014, but ultimately that doesn't affect my interest and desire to read these. 2) When I first started reading it, the D/P/P chapter was actually my least favorite of the series I have read so far (which includes the original, G/S, R/S through volume 21 as of this writing, HG/SS, and B/W through vol 3 as of this writing). I'm not sure why I didn't like it at first, maybe it was the recycled "joke" panels that weren't funny after the first time, or the fact that I wasn't really able to connect well with either of the main characters at first, but the first two volumes were a stretch for me. Since the story has picked up though, it has been getting much better. I have found myself being sucked in to the story so much that I'm back to saving money and buying the next volume as quickly as possible (often only a week or a few days apart). With volume 7, 8, and 9, the story has really taken a good turn and I believe it's one of the better arcs in the series right now. If you like any of the Pokemon Adventures series, try to look past the lame jokes and mild character development in the first few volumes, it's definitely worth it!
