4.0 out of 5 stars If you like LTJ Bukem you'll love this! 19 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This original offering from LTJ Bukem's label, Good Looking Records, is a definitive collection of intelligent drum and bass masterpieces. You probably already know most of the tunes even if you don't recognise the names. '19.5' by Bukem and Peshay is a classic with chilled-out waves of tune layered over fast beats and 'Bringing me down' is the perfect example of how music should be. There aren't really any stand-out tracks on this album because they all follow pretty much the same formula, this means that there are no bad tracks either but the album can become slightly repetitive. If you like your drum and bass dark then this isn't really for you as there's no stupidly fat basslines, scratching or MCs to break up the tunes. If, like me however, you prefer progressive music with fast drum-beats and plenty of layering, or even if you haven't heard of LTJ Bukem, this is the perfect CD to kick off your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tapestry of Spaced Out Drum and Bass 8 Mar 2012
By jonathan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The devoted fanbase that has sprung up around Good Looking Records has only grown stronger over time. Fans rave about the spacey chords and jazzy melodies of the artists on this label, and there is quite a sincere love for this certain corner of electronic music.

If you came to the GLR party a bit later, as I did, the Points in Time series of sampler discs will provide a wide assortment of styles and tastes. Much like a Spanish tapas plate, there's a certain song or groove here that will please any fan of breaks or DnB, without the hard-edged blasts that tend to be the hallmark of Metalheadz or some of the Fabriclive offerings.

As this entire series is well paced per release with little chaff to speak of, it's very difficult to single out one album for purchase(if pressured, I would say that PIT 4 or 6 are likely the most coherent). As it's possible to get them for a very low price now, so it's almost worth putting down for a random collection and seeing what you will get. I did the same, and I was not disappointed.

GLR has discontinued releasing records for the time being, and a number of the artists have moved on to different labels. A real shame, as this was the premium location for the most moving and emotional dance music in this range of BPM, and may be difficult to beat for some time.
