Brillient - as a Frank Sinatra fan - this must be one of the very best c.d's ever made, the lyrics just have to be listened to to appreciate him.
It is listened to every day - just buy it and see for yourself -

This album was Frabk Sinatra's final release for Capitol and supposedly recorded under a lot of bad vibrations already. It re-uinites Mr. Sinatra with arranger Axel Stordahl, who was responsible for his very first Capitol recordings eight years prior to this final album (Mr. Stordahl was terminally ill by 1961).

Recorded in just two sessions, it stands as one of the best Sinatra ballads albums ever - including wonderful renditions of "As Time Goes by" and "I'll Remember April".

This is such much better than most of the stuff Sinatra recorded on his own Reprise lable in later years, and - in my opinion - one of the best three Sinatra releases available (the other two being "Only the Lonely" and "September of My Years").

Lost classic 26 July 2010
Format:Audio CD
Recorded quickly as a contractual obligation to Capitol records to fullfil his contract this Sinatra album has been somewhat lost in the mire of great Sinatra albums. By the time this was recorded in 1961,Sinatra had already recorded "Ring-a-ding-ding" for his newly formed Reprise label but still had one last album to deliver for Capitol. Sinatra decided to hire arranger Axel stordahl who had arranged some of Sinatra's earliest material for capitol some 8 yrs previous and the pair recorded this in only 2 days. Please do not think that because this was a contractual obligation record and the quick time it was recorded that this is any less worthy than his other albums. "point of no return" is a fantastic album form start to finish. This is one of Frank's ballads albums and at least to this reviewer this album rates higher than that of "In the wee small hours" and "Only for the lonely" im probably in a minority there but i never rated the song choices that much on "In the wee small hours",though Franks vocals were superb of course. I personally found the song choices on this album stronger and stordahls string arrangements and the use of some smooth saxophone on a few tracks absoloutley sublime !

Fantastic songs like "Ill remember April" "Its a blue world" "A million dreams" "These foolish things" and many more are just superb.

This is by far my favourite ballads album from Sinatra and one i would highly recommend you add to your Sinatra collection if it is missing.

Some versions also have 4 bonus tracks from earlier Sinatra/Stordahl sessions.
