I first heard these guys on a couple of surfing and snowboarding videos .... and impressed by their sound I tracked down this album ( gotta love those track credits at the end of said videos ).

This album rips , it starts off on the first track ( open ) with a nice building instrumental and without stopping goes straight into track 2 ( point # 1 ) just charges and does'nt let up .

You really do get caught up and feel the songs , there's some real energetic emotion fueled stuff ... nice and loud but not shouty and distorted like some nu-metal pre-pubesent mask wearin crap around at the moment , the singer's got a great voice and his brothers ( from what I can gather on the sleeve notes they're all brothers ) can really play .

Can't really compare it with anyone or pigeon hole it to a style .... it is just good old hard rock music that does'nt let up from start to finish , hard and loud with some nice slower and quieter moments to break it up , this is the best rock album i've bought in the last 5 year's.

OMG before I give my reasons as to I'm insanily crazy about this album, let me just say this is one of the best albums I have ever heard. The only reason I even know about them is because LastFm.com suggested them to me. I'm a loyal Staind fan but after I heard I was literally feeling as if I was in the studio with them.

They sound so organic that it's unbelievable, if you are metal, hard-rock or alternative rock fan you are absolutely going to love this. Everything has been perfectly performed so such a way that can't be compared to any one, it's such a great album that not even the greats can be compared. It has such an organic sound to everything, it all sounds great. You are really going to get lost with them when listening because they will take you a trip that you never get tired of. In short, ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!

i heard this album after buying 'this type of thinking...' and 'wonder what's next', which are much harsher sounding and at first was disappointed at the simplicity of the songs. however, after listening to them again i realised how amazing they actually are. chevelle seem to have taken influences from tool in the way they use long intros before bursting into quality songs, which simply get better with every listen.

definately worth buying but very different to thier later stuff.
