**Excellent !! - Diversity Never Sounded So Good !!** 25 Nov. 2012

Aside from NOFX's new album, this has got to be the most pleasant surprise we've had on Fat this year. Morning Glory's Poets Were my Heroes is an incredibly diverse album, with lots of different moods and a wide range of instruments. Having heard nothing new from Ezra in a while i have to say that this album did not disapoint , it actually exceeded my expectations, which were already set pretty high. For an old fan of LOC, CV, INDK and S.F.H this album is more than welcome to my Punk Rock collection!

Knowing the album was coming out soon i really wanted it to be something special. I was hoping to get a good punk rock record, not necessarily fast but still with that same energy and raw sound that LOC and CV were known for but also i wanted it to be melodic, i didnt want it to be too heavy ,dark or lacking in melodies. Plus, knowing the album would be released on Fat i also had high expectations for the sounds and the arrangements (I guess im kinda picky...)

The album turned out to be excellent, the sound quality is just perfect and as far as diversity goes, this is way over the top! The wide variety of instruments on the album are bringing out very different and interesting feels all the way through the album. Strings, horns, choirs, pianos and organs all come together on this album to give us something really melodic and unique .The album is not a very "Fast" Punk Rock record but the variety makes up for it. Very nice melodic intro here, fast and catchy string melody on a double time beat. I was hooked after the first song. Ezra is in great form here and delivers a very good vocal performance all the way through, its amazing sometimes to hear him push his voice and sing at the top of his lungs without screaming or being too aggressive, we even have a very nice ballad near the end, a bit sad but still very nice.

Overall an excellent album. highly recommended to any punk fans, especially fans of LOC, CV ,INDK or S.F.H (This is a must for you guys!)This music deserves to be heard, i hope more people will get to it soon.I hope they have some more amazing music for us soon. In the meantime,This CD is not leaving my CD player....

Highly Recommended! In My Top 25 Albums of All Time. 13 Jan. 2015

This is by far my favorite Morning Glory record, and I like or love them all. Like the Clash's London Calling album, Poets Were My Heroes is an album with many sounds, song styles, and song subjects. In fact, if you heard only the three most diverse songs, it might come across as a scattered mini-collection of great songs. But the strength here is in the album. With thirteen songs and the short intro song from Ezra (Leftover) Crack's early childhood, I have a hard time picking a favorite.

Everything's A Song To Me is great, high-integrity punk with clever lyrics... Shelter From The Spoon, with its chorus depicting one of the most common lines that addicts face: "I could do anything if I could stay clean." March Of The Asylum is an updated version of an internet-leaked demo from a few years back, and Divide By is the final studio remake, one minute shorter, of one of the many catchy songs from This Is No Time To Sleep. Orphan's Holiday, Patiently, and the bouncy Life's A Long Revenge are all excellent, catchy punk songs...

If you're a fan of classic punk that spans multiple silly sub-genres with no apologies, this albums is well worth checking out. Fans of The Clash, Rancid (especially Out Come The Wolves and Life Won't Wait), Rocket From The Crypt, mid-to-late era Against Me!, Jawbreaker, and Nirvana should definitely check this album out -- not because they're musically all too similar, but because all of these bands knew/know how to craft great high energy songs that define their own sound. Highly recommended.

I've been a HUGE fan of Morning G since I first heard This is No Time Ta Sleep. I was equally impressed with The Whole World's Watching, but I have to say, I found this latest effort disappointing. I can certainly appreciate Ezra's branching out and trying a new style, but in doing so, I feel like he's lost his edge and the solid songwriting and musicality showcased on his previous releases. I hate to say, but I can't even think of a stand out song on this record. Everything sounds like he's trying too hard. I will give him a lot of credit for putting himself out there as much as he did on this release, but I hope in the future he can find a better balance between this and the truly powerful music he has made in the past.
