Having seen aNNa rYDEr back before she even transposed her capitals, I bought the album immediately I saw it. On Pockets, she works with the friends she has made from within the Cropredy Fairport festival circle - and it takes some courage to take the stage with them under the watchful ghost of Sandy Denny. This is however, aNNa's album, not homage to Fairport. Her songs are quirky and the title song speaks of the baggage that a new lover brings to the relationship in his metaphorical pockets and how she would like to start afresh by burning away the contents. She covers a range of topics from the mundane (her cars in "Heaps of metal") and poigniantly asks "Who's the fool?" This is a developing talent still showing a freshness.
