Great little book-we always use this set of books when we go away and they never fail. Nice compact guide, good color photos/glossy pages. has a map you can fold out, which is great. Guide has all river bus info to-including how to get cheaper tickets. We used this-saw all we wanted and had a great time.

A very handy book to have in Venice: it was our tour companion! The author really knows the places to go to get away from the crowds and his recommendations for places to eat were always spot on, offering excellent food and service for all budgets. If Jonathan Buckley recommends booking a restaurant in advance, then heed his advice as on the few occasions when we deviated from the guide, we fell straight into tourist traps! Without this book, I think we would have left Venice feeling like it was like Disneyland. Instead, we came away with happy memories of a beautiful city.

Superb. Great size (for carrying about), separate map and handy flap with vaporetti stops. Nice section on suggested itineraries. Restaurant recommendations seem a bit mixed - its all pretty pricey anyway! Overall, highly recommended and would choose this series for other cities.
