A very nice collection of data, very wide subject area!
But, one major snag... Most of the tables are in imperial. Please publish a metric version, far more useful.

I spotted this Pocket Reference being used by Grant Imahara on a Mythbusters programme one evening and decided to purchase a copy there and then on Amazon.

It is indeed pocket sized and runs to 864 very thin pages ( including index). Although the writing it is very small ( maybe point 4-5 ) is surprisingly clear even with my not perfect reading eyesight.

The problem with a reference book is that it is only useful IF you know what is in it and so can take a while to "master". This impressive collection of facts is no exception. It is fascinating to just delve into out of interest.

After many hours of reading and delving, as famously explained by a recent American adviser, I know what I know is in there but I don't know what I don't know is in there.

As value and entertainment it is worth many times its face value as a source of reference I am not so sure that the "new kids" are going to bother with going through the learning curve when "Google" is so much easier.

I usually bring it with me while waiting on flights etc etc and find it useful for those moments when electronic stimulation is neither possible or practical.

It is full of the most seemingly random, but highly organized and eclectic information and facts and references and frankly I don't how I have managed without it..... wonderful and a delightful gift for anyone of an age when the look and feel of printed paper still has that certain magic.

Although this book is American, it is full of useful data and information on many subjects.
Great for engineers and model makers.

I really LOVE Pocket Ref. I also have the big Desk Ref at home but Pocket Ref is really great to keep in your pocket wherever you go.
However, this thing keeps getting thicker and thicker. I have all editions so far and I really think it shouldn't have gotten any thicker than the 2nd edition. Of course, more information means more pages but I think the publisher should also consider the fact that this is a POCKET ref. This 4th edition doesn't sit comfortably in my pockets anymore, hence the 4 star rating.

Glovers Pocket Reference Book appeared, to me, in an episode of the Discovery Channel Program "Mythbusters" being described by one of the hosts (Kari Byron) as "their own personal (reference) bible".

And, for some strange reason it became one of those items I wanted to obtain for myself.

As a Pocket Reference Guide it is an absolute boon if you need this information. Well set out and indexed - although the text is a little on the small side for me.

The main down side to me (and, I guess I should have realised before) this is most certainly an Americian biased tomb - not a bad thing in its self, but I live in the UK.
Still a decent book for all that

This little (or not so little, yet still pocket sized, just) 'Pocket Ref' book has just SO much info in I'm staggered. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a 'go-to' quick look-up for anything and everything. Wondering how many mpg your car does? Or What to do if your friend has a alcohol poisoning? This book is so wide in it's spectrum of helpful, useful, knowledge, it's like asking Yoda! I gave it a 5 out of 5 because I always wanted to know so much that's contained in this book, and now I've found it! The only way to get more stuff into such a small compact space would be to throw it on a microchip. Yeah sure, technology is great, but when you're smart phone battery runs down, 'Pocket ref' will be there, right in your pocket, it WON'T let you down!
