3.0 out of 5 stars US edition 12 Jun 2011
By ClaireO
I ordered this from the UK website, but didn't realise it was a US edition with American spellings and questions. Not so great for me though it looks pretty.

2.0 out of 5 stars Probably ok if you are American 4 Jan 2011
This book has been designed for the American crossword puzzler, so many of the clues are impossible unless you have a good grasp of American English. Also the layout is a bit odd, with no numbers in brackets indicating the length of the words.
I am a crossword novice - still on the Independant I's 5 clue cryptic crossword, so if you are more experienced you may find this book more enjoyable...

5.0 out of 5 stars Chic and Fun 23 Oct 2009

I love carrying this around! I get ansy whenever I have to wait or sit around and this little guy keeps me busy. Plus, I love the chic cover (looks so much better than those tacky mini-mags) that keeps nosy people at bay from asking what I'm doing or trying to "help" me with solving my puzzle. Building my genius and looking good at it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Challenging puzzles, stiff binding 25 Aug 2009
By Lisa Shea - Published on Amazon.com
Pocket Posh Crosswords is a small sized book - about 4" x 6" - with a built in rubber-band style place holder. It's meant for each carry in a purse or pocket, and has 75 puzzles in it to keep you entertained. With all the research showing how much puzzles can keep your mind alert, you could almost say this style of book can help keep you healthy!

The small book size means when you are trying to press open a pair of pages - the clues are on the left, the puzzle on the right - it's a bit hard. The book is "thick" so the pages bow out and don't lay flat. You end up snapping the spine. Which I suppose in the grand scheme of things doesn't really matter. The book is one-use. You go through and solve the puzzles, then recycle the paper. Still, I'd have love to have seen this spiral bound so that when you're working on a given puzzle you can lay it completely flat or heck even wrap the clues around to the back. That way you glance at the back side, see the clue, and then write it on the front side.

There's a good blend of clues in here to really test your knowledge. They range from old movies to new TV shows, politics, geography, history, obscure words and much more. There's a complete list of solutions in the back so you don't get *too* stuck on something.

Definitely a great idea for crossword puzzle fans. If only they could do spiral (or SOME other type of binding) I'd give it five stars.

I bought this for my mom for Christmas to help pass time on the airplane home. She likes it. I liked that you could keep it closed with the elastic strap or mark your place.

I like having this nicer book in my bag. It doesn't get folded or wrinkled and I can take it anywhere. Puzzles are hard...make you think.
