Product Description

Product Description

This uniquely accessible, breakthrough book lets auditors grasp the thinking behind the mathematical approach to risk without doing the mathematics.

Risk control expert and former Big 4 auditor, Matthew Leitch, takes the reader gently but quickly through the key concepts, explaining mistakes organizations often make and how auditors can find them.

Spend a few minutes every day reading this conveniently pocket sized book and you will soon transform your understanding of this highly topical area and be in demand for interesting reviews with risk at their heart.

"I was really excited by this book - and I am not a mathematician. With my basic understanding of business statistics and business risk management I was able to follow the arguments easily and pick up the jargon of a discipline akin to my own but not my own."
Dr Sarah Blackburn, President at the Institute of Internal Auditors - UK and Ireland

From the Author

This book is a practical response to the credit crunch. I wanted to give internal auditors the power to spot dodgy risk analysis for themselves, even in situations where there's some mathematics involved.

The book does not teach you the technical details of symbolic mathematics. That would take years. Instead it explains the concepts involved in a far more accessible way, which is how it manages to cover so many topics so quickly.

Feedback so far has been great. It is good to hear from auditors who have been reading it carefully, taking it all in, and building up their knowledge. People I know who are not auditors are also buying it because having a wide conceptual knowledge of risk mathematics and the ability to spot conceptual mistakes is valuable to them too.

Because people are interested in understanding more about the audit reviews that should be possible with this knowledge, I have written a short article to explain the possibilities and limitations.

Invaluable Guide 13 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
I have started to read this guide finding myself motivated by the Author's positive encouragement to master the subject.
This is enhanced with an insightful script delivered in plain English by an Author who has obviously researched the subject in great detail.
An invaluable tool for the Auditor.

Indispensible reference 30 April 2010
Format:Paperback
I've only recently started on this and I'm taking it steadily rather than in one rush but already I can see that it will become a reference sourcebook I can rely on and keep handy.
