Prue Coats has written another winner. Anyone who wants to find delicious and original ways of cooking fare from field and hedgerow (legally or illegally gathered!!) should look no further. Her stories are funny and delightful and the recipes easy to follow. Fish, game, herbs, fruits and veg from our beautiful British countryside are all covered here. And even if you are not a poacher, there's plenty for anyone even remotely interested in country cooking.

If you liked the "poachers handbook" then you'll love the "poachers cookbook" full of some very hard to find recipes and some unique ones from one of shootings most famous wives, Mrs Coats.
She displays all the love and knowledge of her late husband in this wonderful and entertaining cookbook. The delightful illustrations by B.Greg are of the same high standards of the classic Poachers handbook.

I brought this book for my Dad for a recent birthday present, him and my mum have fairly recently moved to Cornwall and are fully emersing themselves in the country way of life! Within an hour of my Dad ripping open the wrapping paper we had already read the entire book from cover to cover. It is full of great recipes (appropriate for all situations), fantastic country anecdotes and hilarious personal family tales of life in the country. I'm 23 and my Dad is 53 and we both enjoyed the book in equal measure! This is a fantastic book for anyone interested in the country and offers something for everyone whether aged 10 - 100!!! I especially enjoyed the part where Prue describes smuggling a rather slippery wild trout in her knickers as a young girl in order to escape the wrath of the local game keeper....Enjoy
