I am a huge fan of Frankie, but I have to go along with most of the other comments on here - the "Frankie Howerd in Concert" from Yorkshire TV in the 70s is pretty dire. Frankie is trying his best, but it is obvious that something very odd was going on - one sees cutaways of an audience, but the laughter is horribly canned at times. Do we assume that it was not a very receptive audience? I wouldn't be surprised if some of the act had been done without an audience altogether and stitched together with the audience material...it is all very patchy. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to ask along John Le Mesurier as a guest? Everyone looks so uncomfortable and nothing works.
But the set is worth the price just to have the "Frankie Howerd on Campus" performance - a wonderful document of Frankie at his very best.
