Have you ever dreamed of running away? Of just leaving the past behind you? Leonie has done just that. She's moved to another country and got a new job, a new home, a brand new life . . . But when she discovers a box of unread love letters in the bottom of her wardrobe, all ending with the words 'please forgive me', she finds herself drawn to the mystery behind them. Can the unravelling of another person's story help Leonie deal with her own past and her own secrets? All she knows is that she has to try. Because if the couple behind the love letters had a happy ending, then perhaps she just might too.

Ordered this to have for my holidays but couldn't resist taking a sneak peak at the first chapter yesterday!!! I ended up reading it the whole way through in one sitting! I just love this author, have read loads of her books now and everyone is better than the last. This one is about an Irish girl who is staying in San Francisco and finds some mysterious letters in a wardrobe and you just have to find out what is the story behind them! Damn you Melissa Hill now I have nothing to read for my hols!!!!!

BRILLIANT! 27 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
It's only been a few weeks since I first discovered Melissa Hill and since then I have read all her books. I'm amazed and delighted. Not only has a new name been added to my list of top favourite authors, but I have also had very little sleep lately.

"Please forgive me" is Hill's absolutely best book so far, and one can only ask oneself where this authorship is going to end.

This book has got everything. Not only one, but three, parallell and delightfully intricate stories. A broad specter of different and colourful characters - and as always, the most unbelievable twists and turns. The writing flows easily from the author's extremely light pen and incredible imagination. From Dublin to San Francisco - a side trip to Dallas, Texas - and also a couple of generations back and forth in time.

The main story is about Leonie, who brokenhearted flees Dublin and Ireland and settles in San Francisco where she gets a job in a flower shop. Her nabour Alex, who soon becomes a great friend, brings her own story and in her apartment Leonie finds a box with old unopened letters from where another story unfolds.

The book is not only first class entertainment but the touching yet realistic telling of three different - or not so different - love stories, set in different places and times.

Impossible to put down, it simply cannot be done better.

Enjoy!
