Book Description

An inspirational memoir focusing on Welsh international footballer John Hartson's recent battle with cancer

Product Description

In July 2009, former Arsenal, Celtic, West Ham and Wales soccer star John Hartson was diagnosed with testicular cancer, which had also spread to his lungs and brain. But before his treatment even began, John came to the brink of death after contracting pneumonia, ceasing to breathe and undergoing emergency brain surgery. Against all the odds, he pulled through, and in Please Don't Go he documents his incredible fight for life.

John's truly inspirational account of how he has managed to overcome a very aggressive form of cancer will offer hope and courage to others affected by the disease. Including the poignant recollections of his wife Sarah and sister Victoria, it is a touching and ultimately uplifting insight into the bravery of the popular football hero, who has fought back to full health in the face of adversity.

The Big Story from Big John himself, with moving input from his devoted wife, Sarah, and sister, Victoria. I read it cover to cover in one sitting. I could not put it down. It is a sports autobiography, but most definitely the story of John's illness and hospitalisation in graphic detail. I defy you not to be moved by just how close John came to dying and how the love and support of his family and friends brought him back from the brink. More than once. This is a love story.
