Book Description

27 Feb 2014

'I'm glad I could do her this one last favour. If it had been the other way round, I know Gina would have done the same for me.'

Jane and Gina were the best of friends. When Gina's husband Shaun was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2009, Jane vowed to do everything she could to help her best mate and her two small sons through the awful time to come.

But things were about to take a tragic turn for the worse. In 2010, Gina was killed in a shock car crash. Though devastated by her own grief, Jane knew that Gina needed her now more than ever - to help with the boys she had left behind. And after cancer claimed Shaun's life, Jane stepped in to care for the two orphans, becoming the mother her best friend could no longer be.

This is the moving true story behind an incredible act of love.

It's ok because I love it hardly seems appropriate given the subject matter - the story is heartbreaking and I felt so sorry for those concerned....however the content of the book itself is excellent - well written, lot of feeling, passion, hurt - I wondered how a family could ensure so much let alone have come out of it so well.At the end my heart went out to all of them and I felt so proud - I would have given everyone of them a medal if I could - emotional, amazing, the love of friends, their courage and hope and endurance through so much suffering - I'm sending you a hug, well done and God bless all of you...I hope the future shines for you and for your mum and dad too - an unusual book that breaks the heart, that makes you cry, that leaves you saying WOW, that makes you proud, that humbles you....a gripping painful read admittedly and not one to be undertaken lightly but brilliantly written and one that will prove unforgettable - I'd highly recommend this book to anyone - and would be proud to...Squirrel 59 - Thur 24.7.14
