Amazon.co.uk Review

When all the noisy, naughty animals are told "Don't chat to the bus driver" they set off with good enough intentions ... but talking to the bus driver is just too tempting and once they've broken the rule once, chaos ensues...

Don't Chat to the Bus Driver is a superbly amusing story featuring quirky, bold illustrations of familiar animals in a fantastical story that is sure to become a firm favourite with children. But adults had better watch out too ... one look at this brilliant picture book, and before you know it you'll be as hooked as the kids are. (Age 2 and over) --Susan Harrison

Product Description

The bus is late, all the animals are waiting, some more patiently than others. When the bus arrives each animal is told in turn "Please don't chat to the bus driver." But no animal can resist just a few words. Soon the bus driver is so busy listening that his bus is later than before....

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!, 27 Oct 2000

This review is from: Please Don't Chat to the Bus Driver (Hardcover)
With its bright, bold illustrations "Please Don't Chat to the Bus Driver" by Shen Roddie and Jill Newton makes an immediate visual impact. The repetition of words throughout the book makes it a perfect choice for parents of small children as the child can quickly join in with the story yet the variety of mishaps experienced by the bus driver maintains the child's interest to the end. In addition, the colourful illustrations of the featured characters proves educational helping the young child identify different animals.

All in all I found this to be a wonderful, fun book that was a sheer pleasure to share with my duaghter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple text, great illustrations, 21 April 2008

I read this book at the nursery where I work with 3 & 4 year olds, & it always goes down well. The repetitive text means the children can join in.
The animals are told that they can go on the bus as long as they don't chat to the bus driver. But they did! The children find the consequences of the chatting funny. It's great to read to the children - a story you can get into and make humourous just by how you say the words!

5.0 out of 5 stars lovely, bold, bright pictures and fun narrative., 4 Nov 2001

I really enjoyed this book. It's lovely, bold, bright pictures will intise the children in. The illustrations of the animals are wonderfully painted. The text is in a bold clear font, making it easy for young children to read. The narrative is good fun and unexpected at times. I'm a trainee teacher and I will definately use this delightful book in the classroom.
