The Usborne baby range of books are excellent hard back books for babies with beautifully illustrated hard pages with the pull out baby to add to each page - my 10 month old little girl loves all of them again and again and again so its a good job they aren't very long.

Painfully bad

This is by far the worst baby book I have ever seen. Both words and pictures are dull and lifeless. The gimmick of this series is a baby cutout that fits into the same space on every page. Yawn.
Whenever my toddler picks up this book, I spend most of my time trying to keep him from yanking the baby off its string. He tore half its face off trying to pick it out of the book -- thus its alternate title at our house: "Phantom of the Opera Baby".
I keep thinking I should donate it to Goodwill or the library but I would hate to turn a budding reader off with this drivel. Recycle bin, here we come.

I received this book as part of a set from a book club in the mail. The others were messy baby, goodnight baby, and baby's potty. The books are great because the piece connected by a ribbon (the baby character) either can be fit into a space on the pages (like a puzzle piece) or used to pretend different scenerios on the pages (like climbing stairs, splashing in the tub, sitting in the highchair, etc.). THe baby is clothed differently on each side, so at the end of the book, baby is changed into new clothes (messy baby), pajamas (goodnight baby), and swim trunks (playtime baby). This is a fun book to read and play with. I highly recommend the whole set.

This puzzle book is composed of one puzzle piece that you use on each page. How boring is that?
