I bought this in 1973 on the Music for Pleasure label for 50 pence (vinyl of course) and have been waiting for years for a CD. Poor quality recording but peerless music. Unlike so much jazz, Peterson here doesn't just witter away over some vague semblance of the chords, but takes the original genius of Kern's tunes/arrangements and then progressively builds upon them in his own inimitable fashion. For me this is his greatest era, and this album together with Night Train among my favourites. Not perhaps an album for purist bee-bop lovers, but for the rest of us..............
