5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great CD from Oscar Peterson 3 April 2013
By Dick
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I am biased as I love good Jazz piano players and OP is up there with Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans etc.

You will NOT be disappointed with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars MJQ classic 26 Jun 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I've been wanting this original vinyl album to go to CD for many years and now it's here. Apart from a small amount over over-limit distortion on the vibes on a couple of tracks (that is also on the original vinyl album) it is still a wonderful interpretation of the Gershwin classic. Took me back to my teens. Well worth the money.

Format:Audio CD
I had this album originally as an LP and had been waiting for years for it to come out on CD. Still one of their best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Desert Island Disc 31 Jan 2007

One of the most profoundly beautiful albums ever made, in the same league as Miles' Kind of Blue. Luminous, exquisite.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Favorite Made Accessible 25 Dec 2012
By Patricia B. Debrady - Published on Amazon.com

Many of us elders have upgraded to current music technologies and abandoned or given away LP's and turntables. Being able to download to MP3 formats the music that gladdened a music lovers heart back-in-the-day and that still lives on as American classical music makes getting older easier.
5.0 out of 5 stars You won't be disappointed! 28 Mar 2014
By Benjamin Stanley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Milt Jackson, John Lewis, Percy Heath and Connie Kay are some of the finest musicians in the history of American music. Even on their worst days, they were able to produce many moments of magic for their fans. The music from Porgy and Bess has been recorded perhaps hundreds of times by different artists, and this rendition is as fine as any including the recording by Miles Davis.

There are few greater examples of the range and versatility that jazz offers than this album. You have to own it!

3.0 out of 5 stars first time ever disappointed with MJQ 11 Jun 2008
By Amy L. Kaye - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I'm old, really old, so you can believe I've loved the MJQ since my prime. I even went to see them in person, in their dotage (not mine). But this effort is SO not like them, so disconnected from the original, the melodies, storyline, characters that it should bear a different title altogether.
