I hadn't realised just how much assembly would be required for this toy. There are MANY small pieces in several bags in the box - but it all went wrong as there were NO decent instructions about what goes where! Most of the drawings were unclear and the numbered arrows didn't match up to many of the pieces. After about half an hour of puzzling out how to fit all the small pieces into place, we were left with the hose which had no obvious home, so we put it in the locker, despite the illustration on the box which clearly showed it attached to the cradle at the top of the ladder.
I realise Playmobil go out of their way to provide quite detailed fully working models, but I really do think that they should have a look at their assembly instructions (and I'm REALLY glad I didn't leave it until Christmas morning to figure it all out - I got that job done and re-boxed it fully assembled, so my Grandson can actually play with it!

We bought this Playmobil Fire Engine because it came with the ladder. Our son is three and a half and loves it! We have put the some of the smaller pieces aside for when he is older (simply because he's not that interested in them and we don't want to lose them). The flashing blue light is a great addition. Our son uses it to warn his other toys when there is a fire emergency. The detail is amazing with the hidden compartments to store equipment such as the back brace, hose and chain saw. I agree with someone else that the white cage at the end of the ladder does come off easily and our son is constantly having to ask us to put it back on but that may be an age thing. This is a quality toy which has proven very durable. We would definitely recommend this toy to anyone who has a child interested in fire engines.

playmobil is, has been and will hopefully always be one of the best toy manufacturers. we had it as children and the quality is so good, our children now play with the same old toys (not that they appear old at all).
