As with all Playmobil toys, it is of superb quality. It's made of tough plastic and looks good.
There are two modes of play. It can be locked together to make a "Keep" or opened up to make a curtain wall with towers. When in "Keep" configuration, it's a handy container, with carrying handle, for knights and their weapons etc.
There is a working drawbridge with metal chains (on weights to stop them tangling). There are also lots of extra weapons, some armoured knights and a working catapult. There is also a section of wall that hinges inwards. It can be used as a breach in the defences or a secret passage.
My little boy thinks it's wonderful and has had hours of fun with it since Christmas. He has some extra Playmobil knights to defend it too. Some of the poor fellows spend most of their time in the two jails!
It's expensive but, like all Playmobil toys, it's a toy that will last and last and can be played with for years, rather than days. It fits well into the Playmobil world. The Playmobil Vikings from last Christmas have started attacking it from their Longship...

This Playmobil take along castle is relaly not very child-friendly. For the price, it would be best to get a proper sized castle. The take along is indeed very small, and frankly a bit boring - open, it consists of two jail-cells and a door with lifting bridge in the middle, and the only feature is a piece of the "stone" wall that falls down (and it does not fall down easily with a Playmobil catapult, the child has to work it down). The lifting door is on plastic chains which get tangled up very easily indeed, and the castle itself, put together from three pieces with Playmobil's "smart bricks" system (ie, a few plugs on the side) simply does not stand rougher play. Well, how else will a child play with a castle whose wall falls down other than by "hitting" it with a horse or knoght? The whole things falls apart incredibly easily, and even the assemblage for taking along does not hold. I do not recommend it - best to save for one of the real castles.

Apart from some "too small" pieces the castle was fantastic, the additional bonus was in the tidy up and carry away feature. Start the tidy mind early!

Ok but fiddly...
Bought this for our 4 year old (he chose it off amazon himself!)so he's a bit young for this as it has loads of fiddly pieces - however would be great for someone a bit older. Read more

playmobil Knight`s battle chest
Needed lot of adult building and transfer sticking but once done my Grandson loved it.
