Book Description

30 Sep 2010

From the bestselling author of A Woman of Substance comes an explosive novel about one woman's journey to success.

Annette Remmington is a London art consultant and private dealer at the top of her game. When a rare and long lost Rembrandt finds its way into her hands – and sells in a frantic and high profile auction – she is at the pinnacle of her career and becomes the most talked about art dealer in the world.

Marius Remmington is Annett's husband. For twenty years, Marius has groomed her into the international art star that she has become, not to mention saving her from a dark and gritty past. She is his pride and joy, and as her best advisor, it's with great care that he hand picks only the best journalist possible to do a profile on his beloved – Jack Chalmers. Marius believes only he will be able to capture the true brilliance of his lovely wife, but he never intended putting his marriage in jeopardy. And how could he know that Jack would uncover a scandal that could ultimately destroy them all?

3.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTED 18 Nov 2010
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I am an avid reader of B T B but must confess to being disappointed in this one . Far too much time was spent describing the paintings and the artists, thus losing sight of the point of the story.
In my view this book only really started to get really good in the last three chapters, Oh yes and the heroine was too good to be true. Not one of B T B best.

This book will be of interest to any person who has dealings with the art world . It gives the reader a comprehensive idea of the world of fakes and the after effects of the production of these fakes . As usual the author has done considerable research to make this story into a good novel .

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me! 4 Nov 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Found the name-dropping and 'knowledge of art' too tedious. Quite a boring book and so predictable. I used to like this author but the artificial gloss going on at length gets very boring.
