5.0 out of 5 stars Step by step 25 Feb 2009
By D. Anderson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Wow. I can't believe I found this book. There are so few books on this subject and I have always been intrigued with the idea of reading playing cards. The book takes you step by step and shows you how to do card readings in a way that I could easily understand. I learned Tarot at one time but never felt like it really resonated with me. I have been doing some simple card spreads since reading this book and it feels really good. I already do readings with astrology and am excited about integrating this into my sessions. Also, the illustrations in the book show you a picture for each card that is beautiful and sometimes haunting. I will probably order the deck that goes with the book, just for the artwork alone. For now I am enjoying doing readings with just a regular deck. I definitely recommend this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!! 7 July 2012
By Speck - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The story told by these cards is fascinating, as are the visions of this father-daughter team of oracle artists. The book is well written, and very interesting. Everything is covered, numerology, colors, the suites - all the things one must consider when reading playing cards. The illustrations on the cards make it easier to remember the meanings, and will spark your intuition.

If you are looking for "standard" playing card meanings, you won't find them here - while there are some similarities, the system is unique. There is much about the relationships between the cards, instead of just individual meanings for each one. The cards are well laminated, sturdy, and beautiful in their own simplistic way, with a limited color scheme that really works well.

If you like playing card, tarot and oracle card reading, give this system a try. The set of book plus cards is out of print now, but one can still get the book at a reasonable price and I believe a new smaller sized deck is now available.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Story Is In The Cards! 1 Oct 2011
By Bonnie Cehovet - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The story indeed is in the cards - within the sub-context of a father teaching his daughter through his artistic voice as well as his written "story" voice. I found this book to be well written, well researched, and presented in a manner that anyone, from any background, could follow. Is this system different from other playing card systems? Yes, it is. It is a system unto itself. Go into this world with an open mind and an open heart, and you will do well. In the end, you will be able to read playing cards as a form of divination, and be able to work with your results.

I was quite interested to read about the card associations in such areas as color, numerology, seasons, elements, directions and such. Each one is also givne a magical name, and each one has its own story to tell. Then there are the Ladies - Cortez's name for the Ten's, which arfe considered to be part of the Court Cards.

The wisdom and vision within this book is phenomenal. Take a look and see what you think!

5.0 out of 5 stars Abundance of wonderful information... 7 Sep 2012
By Rayla SunGazer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is a WONDERFUL source of information even if you don't own the deck of cards. 257 pages packed with wonderful insights and information. There is much detail about numbers, symbols, color, suits, and court cards. There are many spreads, info on intuitive reading and much much more. The information in this book is good for tarot as well as for playing card decks. The deck that goes with this book (I bought them separate) is VERY small. 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. The deck is lovely and I love the art work but it is way too small for my liking. This book is a must have for card readers of any kind. Oracle, tarot, playing cards... this book will help any reading. I LOVE IT !!!
Update 2014... This book has become my most trusted sorce for interpreting Tarot. It's my go to book. I cannot say enough good about this book!!!
