About the Author
Born in Tokyo, Suzuko Koseki graduated from Bunka Fashion College. In 1978, she began studying with master quilter Chuck Nohara. In 1990, she won an award at the International Gardening and Greenery Exhibition in Osaka and her work has appeared in many other exhibitions since. She is the author of Patchwork Style: 35 Simple Projects for a Cozy and Colorful Life.

This colourful book is a great guide for someone new to patchwork, or looking to improve their skills. The book is broken down into 4 main sections: Straight-line piecework, curved-line piecework, appliqué and quilting. Projects in the book include several bags, a pillow, a needle case, a tea cosy, quilts and coasters.
Each section starts by showing you examples of the technique along with project ideas (the instructions for the projects are in the back of the book). There are detailed instructions as well as hundreds of photos to guide you through each stage of the technique. You will also find illustrations of various stitches too.
At the back of the book as well as project instructions there is a full size pull out pattern sheet and a guide to fabrics and fabric arrangement. I am amazed at how much information there is in this book, if you are looking for some projects and techniques to get you started with Patchwork & quilting this is a good place to start.

Expand your patchwork with this creative book full of projects to make useful objects in colourful patchwork. Start with straight lines and create amazing flowers. Once you have mastered that technique, move on to curved lines then on to applique and quilting. The designs are unique and this book has patterns and ideas for bags, coasters, purses, cushions, a lovely sampler mini quilt and more. There are full-sized patterns on a pull-out sheet. The instructions are clear and well-photographed. The techniques and colour photos are at the front of the book, the instructions for making the actual projects are at the back of the book in black and white. This book is one of my best buys it is full of hands on information great for the novic or experienced patchworker with terrific pictures and diagrams, it is mostly hand work, a good buy in my opinion .
