4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant Surprise thats fun 27 Nov 2012
Platform for Display:PlayStation Vita
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My review for PS3 and Vita are the same (just minor graphical differences between the 2 and slight control differences)

Blah Blah Blah its a Smash Bros copy...

Kinda but its is fun. I played this at the Eurogamer Expo and in all honesty wasnt blown away. It seemed like a novel way to spend 10-15 minutes. I played the Beta and my thoughts did not change. I still bought it on release though. I liked the idea of Cross play and getting the PS Vita version free when buying the PS3 version.

I have not stopped playing since i got it on Friday. Its an easy task to put on the VITA from the PS3 disc (one use only). THe games is without a doubt fun and addictive. Its colourful, chaotic and rewarding. As a previous reviewr said i think the difficulty levels are spot on. Its challenging without being infuriatingly hard and cheap. There are 20 character with 2 more DLC in January planned. Each character has its own style so there is no reason anybody shouldnt find a character that suits there playing style. Personally i prefer a character like Sweettooth over Fat Princess.

Now there arnt health bars. Each character has a power bar that fills up when you connect moves. THere are 3 levels each one increasing in power. Level 3 basically can wipeout all players on the screen. The idea is to have the highest number of 'kills' per round or hit a certain number of kills. It takes a bit to get used to but i kinda like the change.

Online is where the challenge is but it is still fun. I have had no connection issues playing on the Vita or PS3.

I wasnt expecting much with this game but found it a pleasant surprise. ITs fun in single player, fun in multiplayer and fun with friends. Basically the game doesnt take itself to seriously and if you can guess is .... fun.

Defo worth checking out

4.0 out of 5 stars Super Smash Bros with Playstation Characters. 13 April 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation Vita|Verified Purchase
I think it's unfair to talk about this game without talking about Super Smash Bros.

It's the same game model in the same way that Street Fighter is very similar to Mortal Kombat in terms of the type of game it is.
If you've played Super Smash you'll know what I'm talking about, although there are some differences.

If you haven't however this is how it works:
You choose a character from the roster which in this game includes a variety of playstation classics, I'll talk more about the characters a bit later on. You then go into a small arena of sorts and fight other characters from the game, either against AI or other players. Each character has special moves unique to that character which as far as I can tell are faithful the the games the character originate from. For example Jak from Jak and Daxter uses attacks/weapons that you use in all three games. The Big Daddy from Bioshock moves and attacks like a Big Daddy, although it's questionable sometimes with all the jumping around he can do.

But that's just a necessary gameplay tweak. You use these moves to beat up your opponents until you build your power bar. The main differences between this and Super Smash Bros is that in this game you don't really "arena out", you don't fall off the area and die as much. It's more about you building up your power bar in order to use special moves to get kills, rather than knocking each other off and trying to survive.

Each character has 3 power moves, the 3rd power level is the strongest and usually includes a mini cutscene to start it off.
There are 3 game objectives available.

- Time - Get as many kills as you can in the time limit.
- Kills - Get a certain amount of kills first. (e.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Game 27 Nov 2012
By Alf
Platform for Display:PlayStation Vita
For me, this is a great game on the PS Vita. The game is never boring as there is always that element of 'should I use the power up move now, or build it to level 2 or 3' and you never know how good a player will be online! Also, every character has their own, individual moves, which you can learn - but I haven't yet as I think there is too much to remember. However, this is nice as it adds to the overall 'build quality' of the game, and that no two characters are alike.

There isn't a strong story line, instead each character you choose, you view a 2 minute video (which is good if you may not know the story behind a character) and you complete a few fights with other characters and then fight the big boss. I found this to be good fun, as if you don't know the character well there is an introduction. However, to my disappointment, you can't save in between when you are playing a character's storyline, so it can be very frustrating if you don't have enough time to finish it, and have to restart the whole story again.

Online is fine, I did have a few connection problems but in general it did work fine. To find a match, it is very simple, you just need to choose you character and it'll fine games. This may be a negative for some, as they may want to customise their games with other people.

Other than that, it's a great game that I really enjoyed. The graphics are great too however I hope there may be characters added in the future! Every character is different and have their own individual special moves (however maybe there should be a small notification that reminds you of the characters moves - as to be honest, I forget most of them!).

A great game, especially for the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but not to play everytime!
It's a good fight game, really nice to play with your friends actually. But the arcade stories are poor, and there's no motivation to play alone!
