Product Description

Product Description

Stuart Brown, a physician, psychiatrist and clinical researcher, has made a career of studying the effects of play on people and animals. His conclusion is that play is no less important than oxygen - and that it's a powerful force in nature that helps determine the likelihood of the very survival of the human race. Sprinkled with anecdotes demonstrating the play habits of subjects as diverse as polar bears and corporate CEOs, Brown and co-writer Vaughan present a compelling case for promoting play at every age. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

A very informative book about play and its purpose to our survival. Stuart Brown's use of coherent language makes it a clear and concise read at any level. Once you start reading you wont be able to put it down and you will take on daily life in a completely different and playful way! A wonderful book that must have given Stuart Brown great pleasure in writing.

Loved this book - could not put it down. Doesn't focus on UK but even still if you are passionate about play throughout your life then this is a must read for you.

This book is a must read. As the subtitle suggests it does indeed invigorate the brain and reminds us and our tired spirits of the importance of play for our well being. It is research based, interesting, inspiring and is a lovely antidote to those that would steal the fun out of life and learning. For many, play has become a forgotten art and its importance devalued as we get older. Too easily we can forget. This is a "keeper" book for me: a personal prompt and reminder that there is power (and smiles) in play. Thankyou Stuart Brown.
