Format: Paperback
The cover made it feel like it was about attracting girls to the outside world, which is something I feel we need in my own setting I work in; as boys will go out no matter what is on offer.

On the first page there is bullet points, THANK YOU! most Early years practitioners with their busy lives of running a house, amusing their own children, and attending to a husband and running a playgroup, or child care setting have not got the time to read loads of writing. It means I can easily refer back to them later too.

I liked the reasoning section about outdoor play, this was written in a way that would help my less confident staff and parents to understand why children need to learn and play outdoors as much as indoors.

The planning section is helpful with easy to reference ideas and the links to the EYFS meant that I could see how these ideas had a purpose.

I loved the observation questions, it made me think about my own practice and how less confident practitioners in my setting could start to think about the questions for them to learn how to reflect on their practice.

I felt the example planning sheet was not as easy to follow and a practitioner who would be new to child care may not fully understand the planning.

The managing outdoor play was interesting, the way the sections regarding different scenarios e.g fixed equipment, surfaces, size of the area etc. meant I could just read the sections that applied to me and my setting. It was helpful to see different ideas about using the outdoor areas as well.
