I have been using the Platypus Big Zip SL 2 litre pack for 2 years and have used it in hot and cold weather during 3 peak and Welsh 3000 and am and very happy with it. Never had any issues in terms of leakage etc.Like most plastic packs, there is a light smell in the water, which in all honesty is least of your issues when your tired and thirsty. Love the product.

Perfect Platypus,

I prefer Platypus hydration systems to others and this wide mouthed version is much easier to fill than the standard, makes filling, draining and cleaning easier. It took longer to arrive than I'd hoped but I'm sure that was down to the snow as nothing much arrived for 10 days!! Recommended product.

Bought this item to replace a previous Platypus which was getting worn and a pain to clean and dry. Much better design and definitely on a par with the Source Widepack my wife uses. Both are easy to clean are almost taste free and a pleasure to use. The Platypus has two advantages one almost insignificant is a pipe clip to attach to your rucksack strap to prevent the mouthpiece flapping around. The second is the self sealing pipe attachment which leaves the bag sealed when the feed pipe is detached. In principle you can remove the bag for refilling and leave the pipe still routed through your pack, this is not possible with the Source Widepack as the bag leakes water when the feed pipe is detached. Not likely to be massively important to most of us as 2 litres is a significant amount to carry and the filling arrangement on the Source, though fiddly, is not likely to cause significant problems.The Platypus is agreat product and as expected when dealing with Amazon was delivered reliably and promptly.
