Format:Audio CD
This 3 cd set was released by EMI Italy to celebrate his lifetime in music with an honorary award from the academy awards for over 500 scores in films and tv in 2007, do not be put off by the tracks being listed in Italian, on the back cover of cd you have italian title and in Brackets the english title... and they are all original tracks... also enclosed is a 8 page booklet given you details of people who worked on his music, Singers, Soloists, Whistlers.. His complete profile started with A Fistful Of Dollars and what a rise to fame... earned 5 nominations for Acamedy Awards but never won , When his music come on screen you were just captured by the wonderful huanting music, so if you like your soundtrack music this is a must for your collection

I've always loved Ennio's musical scores of Clint Eastwood's famous spaghetti westerns and Once in a Time in the West but I wasn't aware that he'd composed as much of a variety of material for other movies as he did. I wasn't sure which 'best of' to purchase so, in the end, I spoilt myself rotten and bought 'The Platinum Collection' (2007) plus 'The Very Best of' (2000). Whereas 'The Platinum Collection' is a 3 CD set, 'The Very Best of' is a single disc album and with such limited space doesn't get to properly explore Ennio's body of works. Normally, I might favour a single disc that condenses the very best tracks into 60 minutes playing time - but, upon hearing the album under review, I don't feel that 'The Very Best of' does actually contain all his most melodic pieces. 'The Platinum Collection' is the one to buy. Highly recommended.

As a huge fan, delighted to come across this, at a bargain price. Most of his gorgeous music is here and some other, lesser known works, some a little quirky, also embellish the three cd offering. Why not five stars? A little churlish of me, but would love to have had Vatel, Addio Mondi ( stunning) and, the Orca main theme, on this collection, but they are sadly omitted. The Cinema Paradiso song is shorter than I'd expected too. A great buy however, for all 'diehards'

Not as good as I expected
Double CD but not as many well known tracks as I had expected - a lot of foreign film tracks. Prompt delivery, but CD case was badly cracked.

Extracts from film music quite short but gives good overview of Morricone's film music.

Nearly everything
One of two pieces of music I would have expected (Fistful of Dollars opening theme) missing but most things are here and quite a bit more
