Platinum 64GB Class 10 SDXC Memory Card

Got this because it seemed to be the cheapest SDXC card and thought I'd risk it. It arrived today and after doing a complete test with an SD card testing tool (F3 by Digirati) I worked out it has the following 'real' stats:

Average write speed = 7.59 MB/s
Maximum write speed = 9.91 MB/s
Average read speed = 22.38 MB/s
Total capacity (ExFAT) = 61.84 GB

So its class 10 status is pretty close, but it's more like a class 8 when you look at the average write speed, and it may be a weird lesser-known brand but it works perfectly.

I needed high capacity cards for HD Camcorder use and was advised by others that this capacity (and for 2) would cost more to buy than the camcorder did!

However, when I searched and found this product I was pleasantly surprised at the cost.
These are good value cards even if the brand is not as familiar as say Kingston, Sandisk or Lexar etc.

The cards come in a retail cardboard and plastic blister pack - difficult to open without scissors but well protected. There is no individual card 'case' with these, as with some, the card is out on its own once removed from the packaging. Not a problem if like me you intend to install it straight away in to a device.

My camcorder accepts SDXC cards. I guess the first thing to check is that the device must be able to read SDXC. These are class 10 cards. I can't remember exactly what this means (Google it if you want to know) - but I do remember that the higher the class - the better the speed, standard of Data integrity, and robustness - such as resistance to external contaminants and influence such as knocks etc.

Class 10 should be more than adequate for most uses and I believe one of (if not the) highest standard for Data cards.

I popped 2 cards in to the camcorder. They were instantly recognised and the camcorder asked if I wanted to format them. Seconds later - job done - recorded on to them and working wonderfully.

The cards were also recognised with no trouble on my Laptop SD card reader. This is not to my knowledge defined as an SDXC reader - but the card works very well in it.
Speed - the other noticeable thing about these cards is that they are very quick, both in the PC reader and the Camera. The previous reviewer has given more analysis than I am able to offer. However, I do have a number of other SD cards, the quickest being SDHC Class4 and these "Platinum" branded cards are much faster to read and write.

Wow 64GB SD card..!! a problem at start as my laptop couldnt read all 64GB and was just showing it as formattable upto 32GB only!! I needed a SDxc USB reader for my new SDxc SD Card, so another amazon purchase and all working fine!! Couldn't have asked for better service. Thanks!
