I wholeheartedly agree with the reviewer who says that the book is NOT suitable for novices. Well, not unless the unspecified novice is the bravest of the brave. One must keep in mind that the book was published nearly 20 years ago. Procedures change somewhat, but mostly so do such things as blends and types of plaster and associated products. I would suggest that a prospective purchaser asks himself - herself - why the book is needed. If someone just wants to learn a few skills in order to do a few home plastering jobs then this book would be of no use at all; however, if one intends to make plastering one's trade then this book, which, according to the back cover is suitable for advanced level C & G (City & Guilds) plastering courses, will be a constant source of inspiration and guidance: it comprehensively covers all aspects of plastering. The glossary of technical terms leaves a lot to be desired. So, to sum up: A great book for the professional but look elsewhere if you seek basic instructions on how to plaster.
